Briefly explain our recent Skype experience.
On Friday of week4 year 5 and year 2red spoke to an American year 2 class using Skype. We sung our national anthem to them and they sung their school song. It was afternoon for them and we had just started school. It was a lot of fun.
The Year 2 students showed us some animals that are the main icons. There was a bird and they also showed there crockedest street and it was pretty amazing.
Have you ever used Skype before (explain)?
We have never used Skype before because it is a new program for us.
What are the advantages of Skype.
The things that are good about Skype is that it is free and saves you a trip across the world to have a conversation with an old friend or a person. Its also a good way of communicating.
How could we use Skype to help our learning?
Skype can help our learning by lots of ways
. We can talk and learn things about other country’s.
. We can teach other people about our country.
. We can learn a lot.

We think Skype works by the internet.

2. yes we have used skype because we used it in 4 red & 2 red.

4. Skype could help our learning by talking to people and learning what they know.Skpe could also help us by asking question about the things we want to know from that country that the teachers don’t knw.

Our last experience on skype was when we were talking to people in America with year 2.

The last time before we went on skype was in year 4 with people from a school in Tuscola, America.

The advantages on skype is that you can see the person you are talking to. Also it is for free, and you can hear them!!!!!!

The thinks you would need to make skype work is, a camera, a audio speaker, and a computer!!!
How could skype help our learning?
Skype can help our learning because if we are speaking to another school we can see what they are learning and they can see what we are learning and we can teach each other what we have learnt!!!!!

I think it was valuable to do because it helps our learning in a fun way and it can teach us stuff we don’t know!

When we went on to Skype we spoke to people from America. When we were on it we spoke to a class from California.We were comparing our uniform to theirs. We were also showing our native animals and they were showing theirs.

We have never used Skype before because we never have had a Mac before.In the future we might get one.
What are the advantages of having Skype.
The advantages of having Skype are you can speak to people from around the world without paying a single coin.
How could we use Skype to help our learning.
We could use Skype to help our learning by talking to classes around the world about Natural Disasters and get their ideas and put our ideas together to make some good information.
How do you think Skype works.
I think Skype works by a web program on the internet and there is a communication device in the Mac that sends communication signals to other country’s and they can receive what you are saying.

One Friday we went up to year2 and we spoke to a school in America about what they were learning about now. They song their school song for us and we song the national anation.
And they showed us the wonkiesed street . We had a fun time.

- You get to talk to people all around the world
- You get to see the people you are talking to, you can see their beautiful faces.

On Emily’s 8th birthday her dad was in china and we put the laptop at the end of the table and he sang happy birthday to her.

In our Skype experience we talked to a Yr 2 class in America. They sang their National Anthem for us and we sang ours for them. We told them some things about our country and we showed them our girls and boys uniforms.

Zac: I have used Skype before with my Aunty and my baby cousin to contact his dad.
What are advantages of using Skype?
On Skype you can see the person your talking to unlike telephone calls. You don’t have to pay money and when you talk the other person hears you straight away. You can also see their surroundings and you can connect with anyone in the world.
Can you think of other ways that we might be able to use Skype in the classroom to improve our learning?
We could use it to interact with schools all over the world and maybe they could give us some information on what we are learning about.

Our last skype experience was when we went in year2 to talk to a class in America. We talked to their main teacher she said to us that the class has different rooms for each subject which we found very interesting because we thought only high schools have different rooms for each subject.

Yes we have used skype before because when we were in year 4 and we vistited year 2 from America. We had spoken to the teacher at 10 o clock in the morning when it was 8 o clock at night in America when we spoke to the teacher.
What are the advantages of skipe?
. you can see the other person and see there expressions on there face. You can also speak to them with seeing the person that you are speaking to which we thought was quite amazing and cool.
-How could we use skype to help out learning?
We could use it by communicating with other countries that help us learn different cultures that people may live in.

I think skype works with the new technology we have these days. The Internet lets us use skype which lets us talk to people all around the world which is a better thing to do so if your in Queensland for a holiday the computers will have skype and then you can talk to your friends that are in New South Wales or Melbourne.
Dear Year 5 what a wonderful learning experience with Skype!! You really are global citizens! I hope your year is going well and you are taking care of your teachers. What you learn now will be so important for your future learning...the world needs you.
